John 14:18 (ESV)

I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

Talk About It

Sometimes life gets really hard. Maybe you feel scared, lonely, or sad about something that happened. Jesus knew that we would have difficult times, so He made us a very special promise: He will never leave us alone! When Jesus went back to heaven, He didn't abandon us. Instead, He sent the Holy Spirit to be with us forever. The Holy Spirit is like having Jesus right beside us all the time. Even when the early Christians faced scary situations and mean people who wanted to hurt them, they weren't alone because God's Spirit was encouraging them and helping them stay strong. An orphan is a child who doesn't have anyone to take care of them, but Jesus promises that we will never be orphans. No matter what happens—whether we're scared, sad, or facing something difficult—God's Spirit is always with us, encouraging us, comforting us, and reminding us that we belong to God's family. We are never, ever alone!

For Parents to Explain

Dear God, thank You for Your promise to never leave us alone and for giving us Your Spirit to comfort us always.
